Cosmic Joke 05:21
Do you ever get the feeling that you’ve been cheated? Do you ever get the feeling that everything’s broke? Do you ever get the feeling the stars are stacked against you? Do you ever get the feeling you’re the punchline to a cosmic joke? Do you ever get the feeling that you’ve been defeated? Do you ever get the feeling that there is no hope? Do you ever get the feeling you’re in over your head again? Do you ever get the feeling you’re the punchline to a cosmic joke? Oh my friend I want to tell you we’re all in this together Crashing into nothing stroke by stroke Oh my friend I want to hear I want to hear your laughter I want to hear your laughter at the cosmic joke

I saw my thoughts aligning against me Dark clouds gathered on the horizon of my mind I saw my thoughts aligning against me and knew They knew my weaknesses far better than I So I ran and I ran and I ran and I ran I ran like I was chased by the undead Yeah I ran and I ran and I ran and I ran With my thoughts always one step ahead Larger than life, but smaller than death x 4 I saw the greatest minds of my generation And I can’t say I was overly impressed They all seemed pretty self-absorbed to tell the truth But that’s what happens when you hear you’re great I guess Oh I try to ignore all the fuss and the roar Do my best to keep both feet on the ground Yeah I try to avoid all of the schadenfreude But the ground’s always shifting me around Larger than life, but smaller than death x 4 Gazing deep into the darkness It isn’t just darkness that we’ve found Gazing deep into the darkness The light the other way around The light the other way around The light the other way around The light the other way

The World 04:09
Oh the world is a mighty fine place, but it really isn’t cute You can die a million ways, you can fall down a garbage chute And asphyxiate upon the broken remnants of your neighbours’ broken lives Oh the world is a mighty fine place, but nobody survives Oh the world is a mighty fine place, but it really isn’t fair You can try a million ways but there’s no guarantee that anyone will care Or maybe if you’re lucky they’ll appreciate you long after you’re gone Oh the world is a mighty fine place, but it just keeps moving on Oh please welcome aboard, the ship is sinking Here’s your Darwin award, what were you thinking? Even if you can swim you’re gonna drown, drown, drown, drown All the captain and crew are at their stations With commemorative pins of all the nations And they sing an old hymn, we’re going down, down, down, down Down down down down down down down down down down down down Oh the world is a mighty fine place, but it really isn’t straight You can try to organize it, try to set it like a fucking dinner plate But when your guests arrive you’ll find their table manners aren’t quite up to speed Oh the world is a mighty fine place, but it’s gonna make you bleed

Chasing things is easy oh but catching things is hard This life is like a poker game without a single card I went out walking in the woods, I went out in the dark I sat down at the table but I couldn’t see the mark Fucking things is easy oh but loving things is hard This life is like a butterfly that’s chained up in a yard I went out walking in the woods, I went out in the cold I sat down at the table but they wouldn’t let me fold Saying things is easy oh but meaning things is harder This life is a like a bleeding nail searching for a martyr I went out walking in the woods, I went out in my skin I sat down at the table but they wouldn’t cut me in Starting things is easy oh but ending things is hard

The Show 06:01
Oh the show, it must go on Though we’re half dead half blind half drunk and half withdrawn Oh the show, it must go on Just put me in a wheelchair and start the song Oh the show, it must go on Though we’re outcast outclassed outlasted and outshone Oh the show, it must go on Even though, we got it wrong Even though, we got it wrong Even though, we got it wrong Oh the show, go on it must Ashes unto actions and distractions unto dust Oh the show, go on it must Put your shoulder to that boulder, Sisyphus oh this is us Oh the show, go on it must ‘Cause no one gives a fuck and they’re not willing to adjust Oh the show, go on it must Even though, the show’s a bust Even though, the show’s a bust Even though, the show’s a bust Oh the show, on it must go The wind don’t need a weather man to know which way to blow Oh the show, on it must go 5-4-3-2-1 wake me up when we hit zero Oh the show, on it must go The sun is rising high while the vultures circle low Oh the show, on it must go Even though, even though, even though, even though Even though, even though, even though, even though

about

"Lead singer Mike Isacson’s sonorous baritone will have you quaking in your boots, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Victoria’s Crashing Into Things. Featuring some of the capital’s finest musicians, the EP ‘Smaller Than Death’ is a delight for anyone who likes intelligent garage rock with a psych edge. On “Cosmic Joke”, for example, we are treated to the singer’s ironic take on life while the band goes nuts on guitar and keys, creating a swirling haze of dark psychedelia. Arguably even more impressive is “The World”, with its crazy stops and starts, and Isacson going from singing to virtual street poetry." -Irregular Dreams review
